Bliss Landing

Bliss Landing (50˚02'00" 124˚49'00" NW side of Malaspina Peninsula, NW of Powell R). Originally known as Bishop Landing, after early settler and postmaster Peter W Bishop, this small settlement and steamship stop was formed at the end of WWI. In 1923 the post office name was changed to Bliss Landing, which is believed to commemorate Joe Blissto, a pioneer handlogger who operated in the area in the early 1900s. A private marina was located at the landing in the early 2000s.
