Botanical Beach (48˚32'00" 124˚26'00" Between Port Renfrew and Sooke, SW side of Vancouver I). A marine outpost, complete with a large log-cabin lodge and two laboratories, was established here in the early 1900s by Dr Josephine Tildon of the Univ of Minnesota. In order to study the abundant intertidal life, students and researchers travelled by steamship from Victoria to Port Renfrew and then reached the beach by foot.
