Bowden Islands (52˚34'00" 129˚13'00" Off Clifford Bay, SW side of Aristazabal I). Cpl William Bowden (1830–79) was a member of the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers, which served in BC 1858–63. Born in Belfast, Ireland, he enlisted in the Royal Artillery at age 18, serving as a gunner and, later, a bombardier.
