Brechin Point


Brechin Point (49˚11'00" 123˚57'00" In Nanaimo, facing Newcastle I, E side of Vancouver I). Brechin was a miners’ residential community that became a suburb of Nanaimo. It was named after the nearby Brechin (or No 4) coal mine, which was named, in turn, after a town on the E coast of Scotland. The mine was opened in 1904 and operated until about 1913. The name of the point was adopted in 1949.
