Brethour Island (48˚41'00" 123˚19'00" W side of Prevost Passage, NE of Sidney, Gulf Is). Samuel Brethour (1818–1877), a native of Ireland and for many years resident at N York, Ont, came to Victoria in 1873 with his wife, Margaret (1829–1883, née St John), and their large family and purchased 200 ha of land in the N Saanich area.
