Brothers Islands

Brothers Islands (48˚25'00" 123˚26'00" Off Esquimalt, NW of Saxe Point, S end of Vancouver I). RN personnel were buried on the main island in the 1850s and ’60s, and it was known as Deadmans I for many years. When a gun emplacement was erected there in the 1890s, the human remains were reinterred at the naval and military cemetery next to Gorge Vale golf course. The origin of the current name is unknown.
