Brown Cove


Brown Cove (52˚41'00" 128˚34'00" N entrance to Meyers Passage, SE side of Princess Royal I). Able Seaman David Edgar Brown, of Richmond, a member of the RCNVR, was killed in action May 7, 1944, aged 19, while serving aboard HMCS Valleyfield. The frigate was returning from convoy duty to St John’s, Nfld, when it was torpedoed off Cape Race by a U-boat and sank, with the loss of 125 lives. Brown’s name is inscribed on the Halifax Memorial.
