Buchan Inlet (53˚23'00" 129˚46'00" N of Port Stephens, SW side of Pitt I). Sir John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir of Elsfield (1875–1940), was gov gen of Canada, 1935–40. A poet and prolific author of both histories (The Marquis of Montrose, Augustus) and novels (The Thirty-Nine Steps, Greenmantle), Buchan created the Gov Gen’s Literary Awards in 1936.
