Calvert Point


Calvert Point (53˚53'00" 130˚07'00" NE side of Pitt I, S of Prince Rupert). Calvert was the original surname of Sir Harry Verney (1801–94), a British peer and long-time Liberal MP who inherited the estates of the Verney family in 1827. He was a close friend of Lord Palmerston, the English PM, an outspoken abolitionist, an evangelical member of the Church Missionary Society and supporter of nurse Florence Nightingale, who was the sister of his second wife, Frances Parthenope Nightingale....
