Cannery Bay


Cannery Bay (49˚08'30" 125˚40'00" E side of Tofino Inlet, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Clayoquot Sd Cannery, built in 1895 by Thomas Earle and the Clayoquot Fishing & Packing Co, was located at the mouth of the Kennedy R, site of the region’s main sockeye run. Also known as the Kennfalls Cannery, it was taken over by the Clayoquot Sd Canning Co in 1902 and operated until the 1940s. The company also co-owned and ran a fleet of locally crewed seiners.
