Cape Calver

Cape Calver (48˚19'30" 123˚32'15" S side of Pedder Bay, S end of Vancouver I). Edward Killwick Calver (1813–92) was an RN surveying specialist and master of HMS Fisgard, 1851–56, though he was probably never present in BC waters. He wrote The Conservation and Improvement of Tidal Rivers in 1853 and commanded HMS Porcupine on several surveys off Ireland and Scotland in 1869, during which a group of scientists made the deepest dredges of the ocean floor ever achieved at that time.
