Cape Edensaw (54˚06'00" 132˚26'00" E side of Virago Sd, N shore of Graham I, QCI). Gwaayang Gwanhlin (c 1810–94), whose Haida name can be translated as “the man who rests his head on an island,” was a prominent, wealthy chief of the Sta’stas Eagle lineage. Edensaw—or Edenshaw, as the name is more commonly spelled—is an anglicized form of his hereditary title, Eda’nsa or Idansaa (“melting ice from a glacier”).
