Cape Parkins


Cape Parkins (50˚27'00" 128˚03'00" N entrance to Quatsino Sd, W of Kains I, NW end of Vancouver I), Parkins Rock (50˚26'00" 128˚03'00" SW of Cape Parkins). Capt James Hanna of the Sea Otter, the first European fur trader to arrive in BC waters, named this cape in 1786—an early date for a BC place name. Unfortunately, it is not known who Parkins was.
