Cape Roger Curtis


Cape Roger Curtis (49˚20'00" 123˚26'00" SW end of Bowen I, Howe Sd, NW of Vancouver). British naval officer Sir Roger Curtis (1746–1816) saw action in the 1794 naval victory over the French known as the Glorious First of June. He was flag capt to Adm Lord Howe, aboard HMS Queen Charlotte, at the time, and later that year was also created a baronet and rear adm. In 1799, as a vice adm, Curtis was appointed cdr-in-chief of the Cape Station. He was promoted to adm in 1803 and ended his career...
