Cape St James


Cape St James (51˚56'00" 131˚01'00" S end of St James I), St James Island (S of Kunghit I, QCI). Cape St James was named by early fur trader Capt George Dixon of the Queen Charlotte, who rounded this headland on the holy day of St James, July 25, 1787. It was the Cap Hector of French explorer Jean-François de Galaup, Comte de Lapérouse, and appears on an early US chart as Cape Haswell. The Haida First Nation name for the cape is Rangxiid Kun.
