Carew Bay (53˚17'00" 132˚38'00" Kano Inlet, W side of Graham I, QCI), Carew Rock (54˚10'00" 133˚07'00" W of Lepas Bay, NW side of Graham I). John Ewen Carew was 1st mate aboard the Queen Charlotte on George Dixon’s historic fur-trading expedition of 1785–88. Dixon, in 1787, was the first European to trade extensively in the QCI, which he named after his vessel. He was also the first to realize that Haida Gwaii was an archipelago and not part of the BC mainland.
