Carey Group (50˚36'00" 126˚37'00" Between Crease I and Harbledown I, E end of Queen Charlotte Str). Charles James Carey (1836–91) was 1st lt aboard HMS Clio, under Capt Nicholas Turnour, and was based on the BC coast at Esquimalt, 1865–68. In 1865 he led an unsuccessful negotiation with Chief Jim, of Ku-Kultz village outside Ft Rupert, over the surrender of three suspected murderers.
