Carr Island


Carr Island (54˚20'00" 130˚28'00" Metlakatla Bay, W of Prince Rupert). Anthony Carr, who died in 1854, was an Anglican clergyman from Beverley, Yorkshire, and a father figure to young William Duncan, later to find fame as a missionary on the N BC coast. Capt George Richards used a number of names associated with the Metlakatla mission and its supporters, all supplied by Duncan, in his 1862 survey of the area with HMS Hecate.
