Carraholly Point

Carraholly Point (49˚18'00" 122˚55'00" N side of Port Moody, Burrard Inlet, E of Vancouver). The Johnston family homesteaded at this location in the early 1900s, building resort cottages and a boat landing. The name was supposedly devised by New Westminster lawyer and judge William Norman Bole, an Irishman who owned much land in the Belcarra area. He cobbled together the Gaelic word carra, meaning “fair land,” with “holly,” several of which had been planted on the property.
