Carthew Point


Carthew Point (54˚10'00" 129˚56'00" E side of mouth of Ecstall R, Skeena R, opposite Port Essington). John Alexander Carthew (1857–1914) was born in NS and became a successful BC cannery owner. In 1885 he opened the Comox Hotel, and three years later he married Carrie Eliza Pratt (1859–1937), a native of Illinois, at Victoria.
