Cartwright Rocks

Cartwright Rocks (53˚02'00" 129˚27'00" Off SW side of Campania I, Caamaño Sd). William Cartwright (1841–1923) was born in England and immigrated to Victoria in 1862. His wife, Mary Finlay (1854–1927), was from Nanaimo. The Cartwrights pre-empted land at E Sooke in 1875, raising a family and farming there for many years before moving to Victoria (there is also an 1878 land pre-emption record in William’s name for Thetis I).
