Cathcart Island

Cathcart Island (51˚18'00" 127˚40'00" Part of the Barrier Group, Smith Sd, S of Rivers Inlet). Henry Cathcart (1869–1961) was born in Ireland and came to Canada with his family about 1873. He married Annie Isabelle Harrison at Victoria in 1909. Cathcart worked for the BC government for over 60 years, starting as a clerk and retiring in 1944 as deputy minister of Lands. Formerly known as Long I but renamed by the hydrographic service about 1948.
