Ceepeecee


Ceepeecee (49˚52'00" 126˚42'00" N side of Hecate Channel, SW of Tahsis, W side of Vancouver I). The name of this former fish-processing community comes from the initials of the Canadian Packing Corp, a subsidiary of the California Packing Corp, which built a pilchard-reduction plant there in 1926. Nelson Bros Fisheries bought the operation in 1934 and expanded it with a cannery in 1938. Fire destroyed most of the site in 1954, and only a small boat ways remained by the early 2000s.
