Chads Island


Chads Island (48˚44'00" 123˚22'00" Between Saltspring I and Portland I, Gulf Is), Chads Point (52˚48'00" 132˚14'00" Just NW of Tasu Sd, W side of Moresby I, QCI). Capt Henry Chads (1819–1906) served on the Pacific Station, 1850–53, as cdr of HMS Portland, the flagship of Rear Adm Fairfax Moresby. He was a founder of the Royal Sailors Home in Portsmouth, capt-superintendent of Deptford dockyard, 1863–66, deputy cdr of the Channel fleet, 1869–70, and he ended his career in 1876–77...
