Chaputs Passage


Chaputs Passage (48˚59'00" 124˚59'00" Entrance to Uchucklesit Inlet, S end of Alberni Inlet, W side of Vancouver I). Chaputs is an approximation of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nation word for canoe. The feature appears on early Admiralty charts as Steamer Passage but was renamed by the hydrographic service about 1945.
