Charmer Point


Charmer Point (48˚41'00" 123˚21'00" E side of Coal I, off NE Saanich Peninsula, N of Victoria). The passenger steamship Charmer had an eventful if accident-prone career on the PNW coast. It was originally built as the Premier in San Francisco in 1887 for Capt John Irving’s Canadian Pacific Navigation Co. The 980-tonne, 61-m vessel ran between Vancouver, Seattle and Tacoma until 1894, when it suffered a collision with the Willamette in which four people died. US salvage efforts failed, but...
