Cheeyah Island


Cheeyah Island (48˚59'00" 124˚59'00" Entrance to Uchucklesit Inlet, SW end of Alberni Inlet, W side of Vancouver I). The island was used by the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nation for drying chum salmon in the fall. The name is a reference to splitting salmon for drying. The feature was formerly known as Harbour I but was renamed by the hydrographic service in 1931.
