Christensen Point


Christensen Point (50˚50'00" 128˚13'00" NE of Cape Scott, N end of Vancouver I). Soren Christensen (1844–1915), a native of Denmark (whose name is sometimes spelled Christiansen), settled E of this point, beside the mouth of the Strandby R, about 1894. He was joined in 1903 by his sister Marie. Nearby Soren Hill is also named for him. A small community that later formed on adjacent Shuttleworth Bight had disappeared by the 1920s.
