Claxton (54˚05'00" 130˚05'00" E side of Telegraph Passage, S entrance to the Skeena R, SE of Prince Rupert). Claxton cannery and sawmill were built by the Royal Canadian Packing Co in 1892 and sold to the Victoria Canning Co in 1898. They were named after Frederick J Claxton (b 1857), a Victoria realtor and insurance agent, originally from California, who was one of Royal Canadian’s trustees.
