Cleve Island

Cleve Island (51˚29'00" 127˚45'00" Off SW Penrose I, Schooner Retreat, N entrance to Rivers Inlet). This geographical feature was formerly known as Cliff I, but to avoid confusion with other “Cliff” names it was changed in 1949 to Cleve, a long-obsolete Middle English word meaning “cliff” or “steep slope or hillside” (from the Old English cleofu, “cliff”).
