Cloake Hill


Cloake Hill (48˚41'27" 123˚27'01" W of Swartz Bay, N end of Saanich Peninsula, N of Victoria). After Isaac Cloake, a pioneer farmer at nearby Deep Cove, who, along with a partner, William Towner (see Towner Bank), was one of the region’s first hop growers. He died in 1876 in a mysterious house fire. The feature, known earlier as Saddle Hill and Arbutus Hill, was officially named in 1934.
