Clover Point


Clover Point (48˚24'00" 123˚21'00" Southernmost tip of Victoria, SE Vancouver I). Named by the HBC’s James Douglas in 1842 after a species of red clover (Trifolium) that grew here in abundance. According to Douglas’s grandson, this was the spot where the future gov of Vancouver I first stepped ashore from the Cadboro to make a detailed survey of the shoreline and decide on the best site for a new post.
