Cole Island


Cole Island (48˚27'00" 123˚27'00" N end of Esquimalt Hbr, just W of Victoria). Edmund Picoti Cole was master aboard HMS Fisgard, under Capt John Duntze, and served on the Pacific Station from 1843 to 1847. He retired in 1858 with the rank of staff cdr and died in 1877. Lt Cdr James Wood of HMS Pandora named numerous features in Esquimalt Hbr after the officers of Fisgard during his 1847 survey.
