Cole Rock


Cole Rock (50˚01'00" 127˚27'00" W of McLean I, Kyuquot Sd, NW side of Vancouver I). Frederick Cole, a native of Nfld, was born in 1854 and came to BC in 1890 with his wife, Emma (1857–1932), and family. He worked as a sealing capt during the Victoria-based pelagic fur seal hunt aboard the Penelope (1892–93), in which he was the first to seal on the Japanese coast, and the Dora Sieward (1894). In 1901 he had command of the Aurora. Named about 1937 by regional hydrographer Henri Parizeau....
