Commodore Point


Commodore Point (48˚25'00" 123˚14'00" S point of Discovery I, off Oak Bay and SE tip of Vancouver I). The 1,071-tonne, 65-m sidewheeler Commodore was built at NY in 1851 and ran on the San Francisco–Portland route. In 1859, during the Fraser R gold rush, it ferried thousands of miners from Victoria to Ft Hope.
