Comrie Head


Comrie Head (53˚49'00" 130˚17'00" NW side of Pitt I, S of Prince Rupert). Peter Comrie was the surgeon on HMS Sparrowhawk, under cdrs Edwin Porcher and Henry Mist, and served on the BC coast, 1865–70, based at Esquimalt. In 1869 he examined the mangled bodies of the crew of the John Bright, found at Hesquiat near the wreck of their vessel, and testified at the trial of several accused Nuu-chah-nulth men, two of whom were found guilty of murdering the seamen and hanged.
