Connel Islands

Connel Islands (54˚25'00" 130˚56'00" In Hudson Bay Passage, S of Dundas I, just NW of Prince Rupert). The name, which appears on an Admiralty chart dated 1912, may come from a Gaelic word meaning “fury” or “uproar” and could refer to the strong currents that swirl around these small islands and reefs. Connel Ck, which flows into Anderson Lk, W of Lillooet, has a similar derivation. It was, in fact, chosen to replace an older name, Roaring Ck, which was duplicated elsewhere.
