Connolly Point


Connolly Point (50˚54'00" 126˚47'00" N side of Sutlej Channel, N of N Broughton I and E end of Queen Charlotte Str). Cdr Matthew Connolly (1817–1901) served on the Pacific Station, 1854–57, with HMS Monarch, flagship of Rear Adm Henry Bruce. He was leader of an 1856 military expedition to the Cowichan Valley that captured a First Nation man suspected of shooting and attempting to kill a British settler.
