Cotton Point


Cotton Point (49˚24'00" 123˚26'00" E end of Keats I, Howe Sd, NW of Vancouver). Capt Charles Cotton (1753–1812), as cdr of HMS Majestic, was a participant in Adm Lord Howe’s victory over a French fleet in the 1794 battle known as the Glorious First of June. In 1810, as an adm and a knight, he was appointed cdr-in-chief of the Mediterranean fleet. (Capt George Vancouver named Howe Sd in honour of Adm Howe, and Capt George Richards, doing survey work aboard HMS Plumper more than 65 years...
