Courtenay (49˚41'00" 124˚59'00" Between Campbell R and Nanaimo, E side of Vancouver I), Courtenay River (Flows SE through Courtenay into Comox Hbr). Capt George William Conway Courtenay (c 1793–1863) was posted to the RN’s Pacific Station, 1846–49, as cdr of the 50-gun frigate Constance, which was one of the first British naval vessels to anchor in Esquimalt Hbr.
