Craft Bay


Craft Bay (54˚00'22" 132˚34'11" E side of Naden Hbr, N end of Graham I, QCI). John Craft was 1st mate of the US trading brig Hope on its 1791 visit to the QCI. He died that fall while the ship was sailing to Hawaii to overwinter. The following season Joseph Ingraham, master of the Hope, named the body of water that would later become Virago Sd in his honour (Port Craft). The hydrographic service kept the reference alive with this current name. D
