Creyke Point

Creyke Point (48˚20'00" 123˚38'00" W side of Becher Bay, S end of Campbell Cove, S tip of Vancouver I). Named in 1846 by Capt Henry Kellett, who charted this area, after Lt Richard Boynton Creyke, an RN surveying officer who was never actually present on the BC coast. Creyke served in the Baltic Sea aboard survey vessel HMS Merlin during the Crimean War and retired from the RN in 1862 with the rank of capt.
