Cruice Rock


Cruice Rock (54˚07'00" 130˚21'00" NW end of Lawyer Is, off NE side of Porcher I, just SW of mouth of Skeena R). William Henry Cruice was an RN surgeon aboard HMS Malacca, under Capt Radulphus Oldfield, and served on the BC coast, based at Esquimalt, in 1866–68. He reached the rank of deputy inspector of hospitals, retired, in 1883 and died in 1899. Named in 1867 by Lt Daniel Pender of the hired survey vessel Beaver.
