Cudlip Point


Cudlip Point (48˚19'00" 123˚32'00" E side of Bentinck I, off S tip of Vancouver I). Named in 1846 by Capt Henry Kellett, who charted this area, after Lt Frederick Augustus Cudlip, an RN surveying officer who was never actually present on the BC coast. He visited Australia in 1829 as a midshipman aboard HMS Sulphur and drew a number of early charts of NZ harbours in 1834 while mate of HMS Buffalo.
