Currie Islet


Currie Islet (51˚51'00" 128˚27'00" S of Goose I, Queens Sd, SW of Bella Bella). Maj David Vivian Currie, VC (1912–86), born in Sask, fought with the S Alberta Regiment in WWII. He was awarded the VC for acts of bravery while blocking and holding one of the main German escape routes from the Falaise area of France during the Battle of Normandy in Aug 1944.
