Darby Channel

Darby Channel (51˚31'00" 127˚43'00" Entrance to Rivers Inlet, N of Penrose I). Dr George Elias Darby (1889–1962) was a Methodist medical missionary who served on the BC coast for 45 years. He was born in Ont and studied medicine at the Univ of Toronto, spending a summer in BC as a student in 1912. He interned at Vancouver in 1913 and the following year married Edna Matthews in Toronto.
