Darrell Bay


Darrell Bay (49˚40'00" 123˚10'00" NE side of Howe Sd, just S of Squamish, NW of Vancouver). Darrell B Burgess established a recreational fishing camp at this location in the 1940s. The site was formerly known as Shannon Bay, after William Shannon, who pre-empted land here in 1889, but Burgess requested the name change and it was granted. For many years a ferry ran from Darrell Bay across Howe Sd to the pulp mill at Woodfibre. Skxwúmish (Squamish) First Nation members harvested herring spawn...
