Dollarton


Dollarton (49˚19'00" 122˚57'00" W side of entrance to Indian Arm, N Vancouver). Robert Dollar (1844–1932) owned the Canadian Robert Dollar Co, which, in turn, owned the community of Dollarton in its early days. Dollar moved from Scotland to Ottawa with his father and began working in the woods. He started up logging companies in Ont, Michigan and, in 1887, California; bought vessels to transport his logs; and then formed a shipping company in Victoria in 1911.
