Dove Island


Dove Island (50˚55'59" 127˚08'36" N side of Drury Inlet, entrance to Actress Passage, N of Queen Charlotte Str, NE of Port Hardy), Dove Point (52˚18'54" 128˚11'48" SW side of Yeo I, opposite Don Peninsula, N of Bella Bella). Probably named after HMS Dove, a 210-tonne gunboat launched in 1855. It served as a tender, under Lt Cdr Charles James Bullock, to HMS Actaeon, which was engaged in survey work off China and in the E Indies, 1856–58. Actaeon Sd is just NE of Dove I.
