Downes Point

Downes Point (49˚30'01" 124˚38'02" E side of Hornby I, Str of Georgia). Edward D Panter Downes (1834–79), who entered the RN in 1847 and served in the Crimean War (1855–56) as a sub-lt on HMS Duke of Wellington, was 2nd lt aboard HMS Tribune, under Capt Geoffrey Hornby, on the Pacific Station in 1859–60.
